Ballet Folklorico San Juan

 
Ballet Folklorico San Juan is the Southwest's premier ballet folklorico company. Now in its 21st season, Ballet San Juan is dedicated to preserving and celebrating authentic Mexican folkloric dance while creating and commissioning new, innovative works. Ballet Folklorico San Juan is under the artistic direction of nationally-acclaimed choreographer Julie Gallego, who has over 25 years of experience as a choreographer and producer in the folklorico and Mariachi industry. She is also founder of the Viva Performing Arts Center in Tucson, Arizona. Performances are regularly held at the Music Hall at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, and at various other theatres throughout the state. Ballet Folklorico San Juan is also passionately committed to educational and outreach opportunities, reaching over 25,000 children every year with their school-time matinee performances. 

Ballet Folklorico San Juan has toured extensively outside of Arizona. Performance highlights have included stage appearances at the famous Degollado Theater for Guadalajara’s 450th Birthday Celebration and the group represented the United States at the VI Festival de Folklore Universitario, in Acapulco, Guerrero. Ballet Folklorico San Juan are also featured in the Annual Las Vegas International Mariachi Festival at the Planet Hollywood Casino, the “International Mariachi Espectacular” at the Tucson Convention Center and the Denver Mariachi Festival held at the Denver Coliseum.

Ballet Folklorico San Juan celebrated their 20th anniversary performing on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship to Ensenada Mexico..
